Wherefore Art Thou, DSL?
Somehow, whenever I have the best laid plans for blogging, technology interferes. I feel like my blogging has been very random and sporadic the past few weeks. But I have a good reason (don’t we all? LOL).
For the past year, our DSL connection has been very reliable, definitely better than our Hughes satellite. The speed has been consistent, something that was a concern since we’re at the “end of the line.” Only when we lost our electricity did we lose our DSL.
However, the last 4 weeks have been different. We’ve spent at least 5 days without DSL. Very random with no warning. Each time has been for 24+ hours too.
The first loss was the result of a tree falling and snapping a pole. The phone man repaired the wire (24 hours later), but the men who set the new pole destroyed his repair (6 more hours later that week).
The second loss was a cut wire in Parkersburg. And this last time (Tuesday – Wednesday) was totally random.
A few months ago, being cut off from DSL wouldn’t have bothered me as much. Right now so much of my work depends on the internet and being able to get online that I get frustrated. It seems like when I reach the point where I have my work lined up, the DSL decides to break.
Thankfully, Frontier Tele., our phone company, was very nice and gave me a $10 credit on our DSL bill for the month. Kudos to Frontier!
I’m hoping that the DSL issues will go away and I’ll be able to proceed with blogging and all my other work. I’ll try not to overwhelm you with posts in the next few days.
