C is for … what else but CAT! Did you seriously think I would come up with a better C word? (I did … once. You can see the CAVES here.)
Sassy Lou is my only kitty furbaby that I have left. She’s definitely my little sweetie!
Most of my cat herd went to new homes this past summer / fall. It was starting to get too expensive paying for food, shots, flea prevention, and vet visits for 6 cats!!!
Winks and Sylvester, my two boys that I had for about 7 years, disappeared during 2009. Both went outside and never came home. Thankfully it wasn’t at the same time but about 9 months apart. Part of me wonders if they found new homes or exactly what happened.
Buttercup went to a new home not too far away along with two rescue kitties that were found along the road. (Yep, at one point, there were 8 cats/kittens in the

Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on around the farm lately…
Spot, the giant horse puppy, is learning to play frisbee, which is better than his other pursuit of duck- and chicken-chaser.
A farm cat had a litter of kittens about three weeks ago. We’ve searched everywhere but can’t find them. They’re somewhere up in the hills.
My bearded irises are soooo ready to bloom…if only the sun would come out. (Why do I have a song from Annie running through my head? Bet it’s in your head now too!)
The potato patch looks wonderful, but the potatoes need to be hilled again (hilled means more dirt added on top). However, the ground is so wet that it’s almost impossible to do.
My in-laws’ best friends moved to the farm last week. They left the rat race of Las Vegas to live in the backwoods of West Virginia. I wonder if they’ll have culture shock?
They arrived in time

From the desk of Mandy, the farm beagle…We had a new adventure today! Spot (giant puppy) and Buttercup (kitten) left early in the morning in the blue car with our people, but they didn’t come home when our people did. I was worried, so I tried finding them with my nose. You do know that beagles are good trackers, right? I’m a beagle. I think my nose is broke ’cause I couldn’t find them.Mom said it was okay ’cause I’d get to go find them later. She told me Buttercup had to visit the kitty doctor so we didn’t have more little kittens. That’s a bummer ’cause I liked playing with the kittens. We had lots last year. Sassy Lou had 4 and Little Girl Cat had 8. Did you know that’s how I learned to count? I’d count the kittens to make sure we always had 4. One time, I counted 5. But we

Meet Buttercup!
She loves the TV remote.
She takes lots of kitten naps.
When she’s not napping, she’s playing.
Playing means climbing up and down the old recliner. It makes a great scratching post except if someone is in it.
