Florida in Pictures

I know some of you have been checking in this week wondering what happened to the new posts. We had to take a quick tripto Florida’s south central Gulf Coast, so I thought I’d share some of our photos. Above: View out the airplane window somewhere over South Carolina

Help Me Out …. If You Can

I have two problems I need help with…

1. I placed some Google ads in my right hand column. Do they appear for you? They don’t for me, except for the large gaping holes. Initially, I could see the ads nicely filling their intended spots, but then they vanished into cyberspace. The first set of ads should be between “Labels” and “Blogosphere” and the other set is between the “AC” ad and “Sonific SongSpot.” Please leave me a comment and let me know if you can or can’t see the ads!!! Edited: With some experimenting, I’ve changed the Google ads around. Hopefully you can see some Google things in the right hand column now!!!

2. If you use Mozilla and ScribeFire to write your blog posts, I need your help specifically. In my previous post, I didn’t want to link every occurrence of the word “Sitemeter” to the website. I figured I’d do the first occurrence in each paragraph. Well, I managed to do two in one paragraph and couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the second link. I tried re-highlighting the offending link, clicking the ‘link’ button, and leaving the address blank, but that didn’t work. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the link? What do I do if I put the wrong link? Of course, now that I wrote this, I figure I can log in to Blogger and fix the link that way, but shouldn’t I be able to do it in ScribeFire before I publish my post?

Stay Tuned for Changes!

As our lives are slowly settling into a fairly steady routine, I’m planning on making some changes to my blog that I hope you will like.

First, I am now an affiliate of Christian Book Distributors (CBD) and I’ll be displaying some ads for material available at their website. Don’t worry, the ads won’t be overwhelming. :) If you are not familiar with CBD, they are an online Christian bookstore with tons and tons of resources – everything from books to CDs to family-friendly DVDs to small gift items – and I think their prices are very reasonable. If you enter the CBD site through a link on my blog, I receive credit as an affiliate for your purchases. :) I’ll never know who you are or what you purchased, just that someone used my link.

Next, I’m going to start at least two feature days – Monday Musings and Writing Wednesdays. Monday Musings will be similar to the post I wrote yesterday – Big Mouths Get Big Miracles. My intention is to share something that has been on my mind or just muse about what’s going on around me. On Writing Wednesday, I’m going to continue the Editor’s Words of Advice from a few months ago as well as talk about other ways you can be a blessing to people with your writing. I’m contemplating another day – possibly Friday Features with book reviews, blogs of note or similar ideas. If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see on here, drop me a note!

And finally, I’m planning to continue participating in Menu Plan Mondays at I’m an Organizing Junkie as well as Super Saving Saturdays at Money Saving Mom. So, the great ideas and good deals will still be here. :) I also want to become involved in some of Crystal’s activities at Biblical Womanhood along with a few other neat sites I’ve noticed in recent weeks.

Of course, all of this is dependent on how busy our lives are, but I find that I thrive on being busy and actually accomplish a lot more that way. My February goal is to rely on a schedule for my daily activities and I think these features will help me focus on the schedule as well as help you know what to expect when you visit! :)

Stay tuned for an exciting new week!

Find of the Day

I’m a huge fan of cooking with a Crockpot, but I always have difficulty finding recipes for what I want to cook. Until now.

Today, while searching for a recipe for BBQ chicken legs, I stumbled on an awesome collection of Crockpot recipes (http://www.scribd.com/doc/1310/470-Crockpot-Recipes). Yep, 470 of them. They include everything from the usual roasts to desserts to soups. There’s an option on the left side to download the collection in PDF too.

On the same site, I also found some delicious-sounding, simple recipes for bread. And, when you have a husband that consumes as much bread as mine does, bread recipes are a good thing. And, these are the kind of recipes that don’t require kneading and rising and all the other complicated stuff that keeps me from making bread regularly.

Looking for ways to save a few pennies? Have you heard of CVS’ card deals? Check it out an explanation here at Money Saving Mom’s blog.

I’m off to go start my BBQ chicken legs….

By the way, I’m also going to start participating in Menu Plan Mondays – you can find out ahead of time what we’ll be eating for the week and decide which night you want to come for dinner! :)
