Twins = Two of Everything?
Trying to figure out what to register for on your baby registry can be a challenge. And if you are expecting twins, you probably wonder what you need 2 of. Does everything have to be doubled? Not really.
Some things, like car seats and cribs, are obvious double needs, but most of the other baby accessories can be single items.
Here’s what we have in our household …
Double items:
- Car seats
- Cribs & mattresses- We used one crib until the girls were 8 months old.
- Walkers – For a couple of months, we only had 1 walker but then the girls started to “fight” over who played in the walker. So, eventually 2 will be a necessity. Our girls love to chase each other and play bumper cars while in their walkers.
- High chairs – We chose booster seats (like this one) instead of high chairs simply because of space in our kitchen.
Single items:
- Stroller – We have a double Graco stroller. However, I could see the need for having two simple strollers (like the $15 ones you can find at Walmart) for certain occasions.
- Swing
- Jumperoo
- Changing table
- Dresser - This could be a double need if you are expecting a boy and a girl.
- Toys – Twins do not need two of the same toy, especially larger noise-making toys.
Some things, like dolls or stuffed animals, are nice to have two of but they don’t have to be identical. LG and DJ both sleep with a stuffed animal – same style and brand but one bear and one tiger. - Diaper pail – You’ll empty it more often but why take up more space with another one?
- Play yard
- Bathtub – Read my review of two infant tubs.
- Bumbo seat – This is an item that you may want two of. We primarily got our Bumbo seat to help LG develop her muscles to sit better. DJ was already sitting fine on her own at that point.
- Carrier/Sling – We have a Baby Bjorn carrier as well as a Moby Wrap that I used mainly around the house. If your spouse wants to carry a baby too, then this would be a double item, otherwise one would be sufficient.
Would love some input from other twin moms of what items you doubled!
