As you’re reading this, I’m happily on my way to a 4-day, 3-night vacation. Yay!
I’m also hoping that I’m not sick. This is a scheduled post that I wrote late Tuesday evening and, at the time, the Farmer (that’s my hubby) had a sinus infection. Please tell me that I didn’t get it next!
So what have I been up to recently? Besides preparing for a couple of days away, I’ve spent a lot of time this week working on this blog as well as a designing a soon-to-be-unveiled blog on my business site.
Converting this blog from Blogger to WordPress was slightly monumental. I never imagined it would’ve taken as long as it did. I’m sure others have moved seamlessly, but I’m too much of a perfectionist. (Strongly dislike that tendency!) Moving meant everything had to be just right. All of the key pieces had to be in place. The design had to be similar, yet fresh.
I think the design part is what almost killed me. Perfection. Ugh. But I was proud of myself since I went live with some kinks to still work out. For example, (and I might have figured out the solution since I wrote this post) I really want to change how the posts are dated. I don’t like date format. I prefer m.d.y so it looks like 02.24.2009. To me, that looks a lot classier than Feb 22, 2009. I’m sure the trick is somewhere in the html code because my settings are set for my preference.
Things that I still need to do are:
- fix the Blogroll. Who wants all those technical sites? Not me! Actually, I’m not really sure I’m going to keep the Blogroll. I’m always afraid I’ll leave someone out and they’ll get offended. Do you look at other bloggers’ Blogrolls?
- figure out how to change these weird bullet points.
- add a list of helpful topics covered in previous posts. I’m thinking of things like self-publishing, CVS, surviving on one income, etc.
- go back and update links within the posts so they go to the right spot. Right now, they’re all linked to Blogger, not WordPress. Maybe I’ll do this, maybe I won’t.
I’m hoping that I’ll be content after that. I think I’ve been fiddling with my blog for about a month now. First, I redesigned it, and then I moved it. Time to be done and get back to the thing that matters – writing great posts for you to read!
