Wordless Wednesday: Young Farm Babies
The ABC Wednesday letter for this week is “Y.” I have the perfect photos for “Y” too. Our barnyard is turning into a nursery, so today, I’m sharing photos of young calves.
At the time of the photo, the calf on the left was about 9 days old (born Dec. 20), and the one laying down was 3 days old. Aren’t they the cutest?
“Mom! Mom! Where are you?” The little one is moo-ing for mommy (not the cows in the photo). Such an adorable sound! Do you see the cute little white tip on the tail?
This guy is older, born in November, but doesn’t he look like a sheep with his black face?
Our bull is a full-blooded, registered Black Angus, but some of the mothers are Red Angus. When the calves are born, sometimes they have a brownish-red coat that they’ll shed to become jet black.

OH such cute calves…love the black face…makes me miss living in the country…we had black face sheep (suffolk)
Oh so cute! I especially love the last photo!
I’ve always loved the new life in the fields, be it cows, horses, sheep, whatever. Maybe that comes from growing up on a farm… or maybe just from loving all animals. These ones are very cute. Where I live you don’t get babies at this time of year, it’s the dead of winter, so we have a couple months to wait yet.
Blessings in 2009 and beyond.
How could you join ABC Wednesday and not tell me? : ) I love ABC Wednesday. Did you just start? I don’t remember seeing your name there. I had a hard time with Z. A REALLY hard time! I will show these pictures to Kaish before school in the morning. Cute!
