My Choice of Suspense Fiction
At Saturday Christian Fiction Carnival, Amy asked: What’s the best Christian fiction horror or suspense novel that you’ve read? What book would you recommend to someone who wanted to try out these genres? What’s a book in these genres you want to read but haven’t yet?
I don’t know that I’ve read any Christian horror novels. Ever. But, in my opinion, the master of Christian suspense is Dee Henderson. Her O’Malley series had me sitting on the edge of my seat and unable to put any of the books down. A couple of times I even had to look over my shoulder just to make sure everything was okay.
(With that said about Dee, I did not enjoy her Uncommon Heroes series.)
Another suspense series that I really enjoyed was Mel Odom’s NCIS series (Paid in Blood and Blood Evidence). I enjoy the TV shows JAG and NCIS, so naturally I liked his series.
While I wish there was a new Henderson book on the horizon, I’ll settle for Odom’s next book in the series, Blood Lines. It’s due to hit shelves in January 2009.

I have all of the O’Malley series, it is excellent! I need to re-read them, I think.
I haven’t read the NCIS series but I do like NCIS (the show).
And I didn’t think the Uncommon Heroes series was nearly as good as her O’Malley series, either.
Great post! Here’s mine: http://kindredthought.blogspot.com/2008/10/saturday-christian-fiction-carnival_24.html
Wow – I LOVE NCIS and JAG – I didn’t know there was a series of books out. I’ll have to add Mel Odom’s books to my wish list.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, another recommendation for the O’Malley books. I’ll have to look for them, they sound very interesting. Thanks.

I loved the O’Malleys too!
I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Dee Henderson.
I’m not that into horror/thriller either. I do love Robert Liparulo and Sue Dent though.
My sister is a big Dee Henderson fan, I’ve never read any of her stuff – but maybe I should…
oh how I love Dee Henderson
) I did enjoy her Uncommon Hero’s series…with the second one being my favorite but then again I have enjoyed everything she has written.
I’m hearing a ton about Mel Odom’s work! I need to check that out!
Thanks!

I enojoyed Jag and NCIS TV shows too but haven’t read the books. I loved Henderson’s too, as well as Frank Peretti’s The Present Darkness and Oath and the others as well as most Ted Dekker’s books (although haven’t read House yet). I might be able to start reading House next week, hoping that I can finish it before it’s premiere in theaters, November 7. I maybe add Sue Dent’s books in my list too, next to Collin’s forensic books.
