Journey Down the Mountain

Yesterday, I mentioned that my parents and I walked down the mountain from our meadows. Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, I’ll show you our trek.

See the white spot at the top of the hill? That’s Dad. This is one of the highest points of elevation on our farm. From up here, you can see things like the start of the leaves changing color. But in order to see this…

You have to come up a dirt trail / road. The usual mode of transportation is an ATV, UTV or tractor to reach the top since it is a mountain, ya know. However, on Saturday, our mode of transportation going down was our feet. (Again, all in the name of exercise.) We started by walking down this…

That’s a downhill incline literally carved out of the side of a hill. Notice the mountain to the right side and the drop off to the left side?

We walked down… and down… and around this…

And then…

Where did the road go? Yep, it’s that much of a mountain. This is about 3/4′s of the way down. The part over that bump might be called “steep” by some. =)

And when you get to the bottom, you finally reach flat ground…

That’s an old picture from a couple of years ago, but we started waaaay up on top beyond those trees on the horizon. We descended about 600 feet in about a 1/2 mile walk. Not bad, huh?
