Writer’s Block – HELP!

Have you ever not been able to write? Like your mind draws a blank. A huge blank. The kind where your name doesn’t even register? I know today is Wednesday, I know it’s the day for a Writing Wednesday post, I know I need to post but … I don’t know what to post. Definitely a blank.

I had all sorts of ideas racing through my head last week until things went topsy-turvy around here. The dog chewed the laptop cord, the car died on the interstate forcing us to walk and have the car towed, Easter came and went, and now I have no clue what I’m doing! :)

So, when you run into writer’s block, what do you do? I know there’s all sorts of recommended writer exercises, prompts, and other stuff, but I’m looking for something practical, something useful, something that works. Any suggestions? (Hmmm…I’m thinking the answers could make an interesting post in the future, but that doesn’t solve today’s writer’s block…)

I’m not really a writer, but I do have a journal that I jot ideas in. I also realize that this won’t help you right now. Oh well.

You mentioned that all kinds of things were running through your head. I try to jot things down when that happens, when I find a good quote, when something interesting happens. Then I have a reference for those blank days.

Sometimes reading a book helps. It’s an instant cure!

I read something–maybe a magazine article or book. If that doesn’t help, I take a break.

Sometimes, I’m most inspired when I haven’t written something in awhile!

Hope you get past your writer’s block soon.

I hope it’s not bad etiquette to leave a second comment. Please forgive me if it is.

I just joined in the Aloha Friday for the first time this week. I thought of you because all the different questions surely made me think of tons of subjects for posting.

There’s a link at my site.
