Super Savings of the Week: Cheap Travel
Then I started looking at individual airlines. Relief!!! I found roundtrip tickets for $78 per person ($39 one way) on Allegiant Air! Plus if we added a rental car, we received a discount on that as well! Gotta love those discounts.
I tried to combine the hotel with the flight and car but the hotels weren’t in the area we needed. So, two roundtrip tickets and a rental car for 5 days came to $350 (taxes and all airline fees included). If that sounds like a lot, check out ticket prices – that’s just about the average for one person to fly!
Next I researched hotels in the area we would be. Again I experienced sticker shock. Once my heart started beating again, I did a little more digging and found a business traveler’s hotel with kitchenettes for a really reasonable rate. Average hotel prices in the area are approximately $100 per night (some were as low as $80 with others as high as $130). This hotel was $62 – woo-hoo!!! And the best thing is with the kitchenette, we’ll be spared the cost of having to eat all of our meals at a restaurant.
So, I have no idea what our actual savings are for the trip, but I’m guessing about $400. It pays to do a little digging to find the deals!
