Do a Price Check

I’ve talked in a couple of recent posts about how we’ve been able to save money on a daily basis. This week I found a “treasure”!

About 6 months ago I started taking higher potency vitamins because of my hypothyroidism. (When you are hypothyroid, especially for an extended period, the body doesn’t digest or absorb vitamins like it should. To counteract the lack of absorption, the strength of the vitamin needs to be higher. Previously, I tried taking regular vitamins, like Centrum, and saw absolutely no benefit whatsoever.) For the past 6 months, I paid $8.94 each month for the higher potency vitamins. I hated paying that much, but the benefits were too great to stop taking the vitamin.

On a whim, I decided to check online for the same vitamins. Bingo! A quick search yielded 6 months worth for $25.45 via Amazon!!! Normally, for 6 months, my price was $53.64. I was able to save

Confused about Cosmetics?

Are you like me in wondering whether that cleanser or moisturizer will do what the label says? Do you wonder if your lipstick will really last the advertised 8 or 18 hours? While browsing Centsible Shopper’s blog, I discovered an intriguing website that may answer your questions. Check out Paula Begoun’s Cosmetic Cop site. Paula evaluates everything from makeup to shampoo to moisturizer to hair dye. According to her site, she doesn’t try each product; instead she basis her evaluation on the ingredients and whether those ingredients in combination with the others in the product will do what is promised. In some cases, like shampoos or facial cleansers or foundations, she mentions what hair type or skin type would benefit the most from the product. Don’t worry, she evaluates the inexpensive and expensive products. She also rates the products so you can see if it is a good product and if the price is justifiable. I

Because HE Lives

I wanted to share the words to an old hymn with you today. I know I don’t have the words perfect, but the message is still there….

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.Because He lives, all fear is gone.Because He lives, I know who holds the future.Life is worth living just because He lives.

I heard this hymn tonight for the first time in many years (hence, the reason why the words aren’t perfect), and I was reminded of the simple beauty of its words. It’s because of God, that we are what we are. Our faith in God molds us into who we are and will be. He makes life worth living for us.

I’m not one to express the inner-workings of my heart to just anyone, but I feel the need to share the following hoping it will help someone or encourage someone walking through a valley today.

During the past 21 months as the storms of

Status Update

Today was an exciting day in our house. Within the next couple of months, we will have two incomes again!!!!!! My husband’s second disability hearing was this afternoon, and we won! I feel kind of strange being excited that someone has finally said that he is truly disabled, but after four years of waiting, I don’t know how to feel anything but excitement.

I can’t begin to explain the feeling of a tremendous burden being lifted from my shoulders. I know my hubby feels the same way. Because of this, our obligatory feeling to settle his compensation case is now gone too. Along with that feeling goes the pressure on me to provide our income each month – now my income will be the extra income for special things, something we haven’t had in almost two years. I’ll also be able to focus on my business and spend time growing in that area rather than
