Jenny’s calf

This morning Jenny, our milk cow (in case you couldn’t tell by the size of her udder), gave birth to a healthy Black Angus / purebred Jersey bull, soon to be steer. He’s jet black and has an adorable 1-inch white tip on his tail and a little bit of white on his belly. The calf is very active and appears to be brave since he wanders away from mom quite a bit. However, when he realizes she’s too far away, he’ll let out a loud, pitiful ‘moo.’ So cute.

Sorry about the quality of the photo. My camera has started giving me fits. It works when I don’t necessarily need it, but when I need it, well, it’s a problem. But on the bright side, I discovered today with a little online research that the problem will be fixed free of charge by Canon. Apparently, many digital cameras, regardless of manufacturer, made in 2002-2004 eventually have an issue with the CCD (don’t ask, I don’t know what it is). Certain wires work themselves loose in high heat or humidity causing some weird things to happen. The best way to describe the problem is the pictures look like someone poured wet paint on them or ran them under water. So, this will probably be the only picture I post for awhile. The entire process of fixing the camera will take approximately 15-20 days. We’ll see.
